Post subject: | If I could design the 80th Anniversary Guitar |
Hi, I'm new to these forums. In fact I am awaiting the arrival of my first Rik, a 620/6 in Midnight Blue (won it on eBay this week). Anyway, I thought it would be fun to hear what others would choose if they could design the next anniversary guitar. I would do a 650 similar to the 650A atlantis, but in creamsicle orange instead of turqouise. Check out this link, NOTE: this is not a real add or Rickenbacker color, just me goofing around. http://s723.photobucket.com/albums/ww23 ... edia_share |

OK, not a fan of orange? Here is my second choice. It is based on the 650E, but painted in a wine purple color, that I call Merloglo. Ha ha. Once again, this is not a real color or gluitar, just having some fun with some old Rick ads. Heres the link: http://s723.photobucket.com/albums/ww23 ... edia_share |

Man, two responses, both negative? These colors aren't THAT wacky. Think about the Blue Boy and Sea Green, those colors were pretty radical and nonconservative and now they are some of the most coveted COYs. I would like to hear others ideas, if not my suggestions, than what would you suggest? |

By the way, I'm a soon to be new Rick owner, but have been a longtime fan. I've only recently been able to afford one of these works of art. I remember bidding on an losing ebay auctions for the 650A when they sold for $800. I wonder if I'll ever be able to bid on one in that range again. Probably not. I couldn't afford the 60th anniversary, maybe I'll be able to afford the 80th?? The 75th was a little too limited for my budget :-(. |

Yes, yellow would be great too. There I think you have two options.... lemon yellow (bright) and a more traditional vanilla yellow (calm and pastel). A wood accent other than natural maple (perhaps a stained one) might be better to offset the light colored paint. |

Forget about custom colours - just start producing the entire range beginning in year 80 in the standard array of colours, with checkered bindings and crushed pearl inlays. That and a special limited edition 80th anniversary Rose Morris 1993. |
