Darthbass,
You pretty much summed me up. I own 3 Ricks but I can say without question that I wouldn't own any if not for the Beatles. I am far from a Rick sycophant like a lot of others on this forum.

I almost feel like I shouldn't post here, so I will.

I only have 2 guitars (used to have more). One is a Ric, bought new in '06 when I was 57. It is a 330, FG with vintage gold pickguards and TRC, equipped with Ric humbuckers. I love this guitar and play it, generally, about an hour most days. I'm in a church band and our styles fall into the categories of light rock, "praise and worship," and some occasional bluesy type stuff. The Ric is definitely my number one. I rarely use my other guitar. To my ears, this guitar has the sweetest and best overdriven tone of any guitar I've ever owned.

I bought the Ric because earlier in the year someone loaned me their 330 for a week. I had never played a Ric, but after I tried one, I soon bought my own from the local dealer in this town. I also started, at that time, to sell off my other guitars. They just were not getting used anymore.

Amazing isn't it?
Yeah, The F and G (brands) just don't excite me at all.
Sorta like being served "house wine" in a fine dinner house.

You may very well be right with the off the cuff conclusion you offer here.

But, I've never been one to be big an basing things on "opinions" or speculaction.

Hard statistics and fully documented as possible facts are what I mostly rely on.

Not an "opinion" or "off the cuff conclusion" at all-
After 700 posts and a few years of forum membership you get to know the guys (and gals) who post here.

And, lol, I cheated,-Due to the fact that there were already 3 pages of info/bios on this thread before I chimed in.

Something that is interesting as well, is that most of the younger guys (40 & under)who have posted-(few that there are thus far)tend to site ownership of the 4003 bass rather than one of the rick guitars. Has the 4003 remained more revelant in contemporary music than the guitars have for some reason? If so that is sad....

Im sure market share has something to due with it of course-Less competition in the bass market, but still, kind of sad.

-John Hall has commented many times both on these Ric Corp. Forums and also on the famous published interview he did for Bunny Bass some years back about how the heavier of electric instrument production percentages continue to bounce back and forth between the guitars and basses.

This production shifting seems to be a constantly changing dynamic.
(by the way since you mention it, as of right now I have 1347 Forums posts)

I guess I'm probably excluded from this thread . . .
