With the way that RIC routes out the bodies on their instruments and then glues a back onto them where does all the sawdust go (recycled? kitty litter?)

Also have you folks considered changing the way you do it seeing as how wood is becoming a scarcer and more expensive commodity by the second these days?

Thanks ...

We do make a bunch of sawdust, about a dumpster a day of it. We've never found a viable method of recycling it. If we were in a cold climate, would could probably use it to fuel a boiler or something. I also looked at a machine to make firelogs out of it but the amount we have and the extra binders that need to be added didn't make it add up right.

We have no problem with either source of supply or costs of wood, since most of what we use is "farm grown", i.e. specially grown for the purpose of harvesting. Except for the most charactered Maple, most of it is only about 10 years old and the amount of farmed wood is increasing, not dwindling.

The specialty suppliers we've seen that offer small quantities of wood blanks or billets seem to have continually increasing prices that suggest supply problems but in fact, more often than not, it's just an increase in the number of middlemen in the process. Frankly, at the mill and wholesale level, I've never seen such a good selection at reasonable prices.

Thanks John, I figure you could always sell the sawdust to Fender so they could press out more Squire Strats ;-) .....

Rickenbacker fire logs? I suppose we should insert fireglo puns here.

Such are the benefits of using maple. Odds are no matter where you live in N. America or Europe you have quite a few of these trees within sight of your house... can't quite say the same for the mahogany some other companies use.

Why not donate it to the sawdust festival!

Sorry. Bad local flavor joke.

ROFL!!!!

For anyone that has gazed at the warm glo of a log fire and noticed the colors, you could sell the logs as the COY AFG logs.

Love the Sawdust Festival!

Have you tried La Sirena Grill down on Mermaid? Just Heavenly!

We time our Sawdust visit to make sure we're out of there by lunchtime so we can get lunch @ La Sirena and still get out of Laguna before the big crowds start.

You could throw it together with chopped up garden clippings to make mulch.

I have this problem every day. MTV has really made my hometown unbearable sometimes.

La Sirena has another, newer location further south on Coast Highway in the center across from the Montage. Much roomier and I think better tasting.
