Thanks everyone for your replies.
Now how about the Byrds?
Both the Beatles and the Byrds had some great songs and alot of their unique sounds was due to their Ric 12's.
If I'm not mistaken, Paul Revere and the Raiders also used a 12 string on occassion. If you can, listen to the intro riff on their song "Kicks". I'd bet money that that jangley sound is a Ric 12, although I don't know it for a fact.
Any other groups that you can think of that appreciated the sound of a Ric 12 string? How about the Searchers? I'm sure they also used a 12 string on some of their songs.
Do any of you remember the one hit wonder group called The Nightcrawlers, who performed their hit "Little Black Egg" back in the late 60's? I believe this hit song was also played on a Ric 12.
As you have probably guessed I love the sound of a Ric 12 string and appreciate its contribution to some great artists.

It sounds like there is a twelve string on Learning to Fly, Free Fallin' and Into the Great Wide Open by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

From that era, "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" by The Animals comes to mind.
The Byrds used one on virtually every album and on most songs. A cool early one is Splendour In The Grass with Jackie DeShannon, one of my favorite female songwriters.
Does anyone know if "Substitute" by The Who was a RIC 12?

Yes, The Searchers played Rickenbacker guitars. Early on, the band had a Burns 12 string, however they soon acquired a Rickenbacker 1993 12 string and a Rick 456/12. The group continues to play live and use a 12 stringer in many of their songs.
