The flat metal surface does something neat that I can't describe. All I know is that the first time I did it, my fiance was in the room, and we both looked at each other and said, "sitar."

Makes sense. I've heard of pedal steel players using flat bars to obtain a sitar sound. Just wouldn't have the same mass.

Cut a slide track on my band's recent release on a Rick - though it was my 360, not a 330 (slide parts are on the intro, the choruses, the solos, and the end - none during the verses). If anyone's interested, listen for free here:
