I was hoping someone from Ric maybe could clarify my question on a warranty requirement.
It states that your standard warranty is 5 years for the original owner from the date stamped on the guitar. Finish for one year. Also it states that you must reg. the guitar within 10 days of purchase to receive warranty. I had understood that manufacturer, by Federal law years ago, cannot compel an owner to register anything with the vendor. They can, however require proof of purchase date for a warranty. This is for the "standard" offered warranty instead of an extended performance warranty (that can require a registration filled out to receive at no additional charge). At least so says our State A.G. anyway.
The reason I care is often I've not received warranty cards from the dealers on guitars & don't like to register for mailing lists sold by the manufacturers. Besides, a sent in warranty registration card doesn't prove either ownership or date of purchase. Wish it did, as Guild lost my 1975 F-47 warranty info with the Fender merger and wouldn't honor the lifetime warranty w/o me proving my purchase date w/ a 35 year old receipt.
