I apologize if this subject has already been posted. I searched and I couldn't find any information on this site about wall mounts. I own a 330, a 360, and a 4003 bass, and I've had them mounted on "Hercules" wall mounts for at least a good year now. I've read so many arguments on the internet on weather or not wall mounts are safe for guitars. I've read that it is bad for the necks, and I've read that it's safe. So I thought I'd ask fellow RIC owners if my precious darlings (My RICS) are gonna be alright to hang on wall mounts for a long period of time. I just don't want to take them down. Having them on the walls is easier access, plus they look so GORGEOUS on my living room wall as art. Here is a link to a video of my son singing a song from The Jam. You can see them in the background. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgA_bdK0 ... KUQ5Jd3RyrThanks in advance for any advice.

They're supposed to be pretty safe; a few learned parties hereabouts use them.

As long as they are SOLIDLY attached to the wall, you should be fine...

As much as I like displaying my Ricks, I keep them in there case when not in use. The cases help protect them from dust, pets and people accidentally bumping into them and where I live...earthquakes.

I keep my guitars in their case, or if I'm lazy, leaned against a wall for a few hours, or on the floor. My girl doesn't go into my guitar room, so I'm not afraid of her stepping on one. I have before, though. I've recently read you shouldn't lean guitars against walls.

If I'm using them and want to set them down for a bit, I put 'em on a GOOD stand. Once I'm through, they go back in their cases...

I was really more concerned weather or not it puts stress on the necks or the heads after a long period of time.
Thanks guys.

Thanks guys. I think all guitars are best left in the case if it's going to be a "long period of time."

Check out the galleries here and you will note that the Ric factory museum has hung its guitars since the days of Mr. F.C. Hall. http://www.rickenbacker.com/gallery_ima ... _year=1992Obviously, it wouldn't be much of a showcase if they were all in their original cases, but it certainly points to a proper hanging doing no harm provided the environment is reasonably controlled. IMHO, hanging MAY keep a neck straighter over long periods of time vs being locked up in a case. The hanging forces naturally counterbalance the string tension and truss rods and promote straightness despite climate variations.
