There were short periods of time that we experimented with single truss rods on the 320 series instruments. Everything I see in the photos indicates this is a genuine instrument.

Actually, that weekend, the US East coast was hit by a hurricane. So I wasnt watching the ebay too intently. In fact, I believe one bid was retracted, so it wasl the next day that I got the winning confirmation. It was in fact th last day of my summer vacation. I had been hoping to get a Ric much earlier in th summer, but it was a nice way to return to the office with that winning email waiting. A nice sunny day at the end of one long rainy summer....

Ive already checked the serial#. Its a was listed as Sept 1989.
I was just concerned that it might be a non Ric body dressed up in old ric parts. Or a Ric that had a replacement neck.
The lack of beltbuckle scrapes or general dings & dents got me thinking it mightve been reworked. Now Im thinking that it probably just wasnt played for a long time & kept safely in the case.
Id like to tinker with it, but since its in nice shape, I'll keep it stock.
Just one thing, looking in the control cavity has got me a littl concerned. Looks like the name MARIO or MARIA in there.
I recall reading in previous posts the name "Maria" (a RIC employee) has been found inside many Rickenbacker instruments.

Thanks MrBurn1964, it seems your guitar is the real deal, Mr Hall's mention of single rods in the 320s made in that year confirms this. Hooray for that call! Yes your guitar is in nice shape, maybe look at what Jingle Jangle uses to polish Rickenbacker's
I think they clean them with Windex and then polish with Brilliantaze or Zymol, Scratch doctor may get rid of some small light scratches, you could search under polish to find out the details. I think your guitar will look almost brand new with a good polish!
This forum has served you well sofar in 2010 and now! LOL and you only have 1 rod to adjust at set up time. Yeah you were lucky to win maybe by someone else's default, so it was meant to be yours! Now we know it's all Ric,,,,just go on a play it!

Ive wanted a 325 for a while but when I tried one in the late 80s, it seemed too small & light. Maybe Because I was playing a lot of bass back then. Now, my niece Ava was born on Oct9, JohnLennon's birthday. So she's inspired me to pursie the 325. And the ebay weekend was hit by hurricane Irene. So should I call my 320, Ava, Irene, or Maria?!?!? Nice to have choices. Nice having a real Ric. Thanks to everyone for the helpful info. -bernard

Called it ''Ava Maria'' as in Ave Maria, fits like a glove don't you think!
LOL seems like the planets aligned to assist with this purchase and some inspiration from your niece, so good luck to you Bernard and enjoy your Rickenbacker. What Amp do you have???

Actually this has been a fun post! Starting off from the 2010 fake and then a bit of uncertainty about this e bay 320, which needed a bit of detective work, and clear photos as evidence to prove it is the real thing, ah it's been full of intrigue and had some twists and turns. Mr Hall having said the 320 did have single rod for a short while was conclusive, so all well that ends well~

Hi welcome to the forums ,,,it took me a while realise it was your first post! So sorry I quoted the lot! I like what you wrote! You seem like you have a bit to do to restore your Ric back to it glory, and I wish you good luck. Mind you I doubt I will personally be able to help you piece a guitar back together in good order, but others more knowledgeable will try to be of assistance! Yes there is respect for this family of guitars! I would never attempt to put a Ric back together from scratch, I would much rather just play !
