Hi all,
I'd been wanting a 325, but not having much luck in local stores or ebay.
When I did almost win an old 325 on Ebay last Dec, the auction was aborted. I appreciate the RicOwners for watching out for copies. The seller tried to contact me & make an offer. He was pretty crestfallen when he finally took it to a music store & they confirmed in was a dressed up copy.
Yup, that put me off ebay for a while.
But a few weeks ago I won this 1989 320. Paddle headstock with schallers, higain pickups. No sigificant dings.

Just one thing, looking in the control cavity has got me a littl concerned. Looks like the name MARIO or MARIA in there. Any thoughts about this guitar? Please dont tell me its a dressed up GRECO or Fernandes....

It's normal for a factory worker to have singed their name into the control cavity. Welcome to the forum and enjoy your Rickenbacker!

Thank you! Good to be here. Im liking the 3/4 scale.

I'm just concerned about the single truss rod. I've just read on some threads that some 320 had single, but others had double. is there a way to date or verify this?

thanks for the help!

Thanks very much! Good to be here. Im really enjoying my first Ric.

I was a little worried about the single trussrod. I've since found the thread stating that some 320 have a double truss, but single was also manufactured. That and the nice condition of the finish got me a little concerned. Newbie nerves...

Is there any more info on th trussrods?

MrBurn1964. Welcome and so glad to hear that you didn't get the fake. In fact you have a great guitar, thanks for the photos. I must commended you on winning that auction there were over 35 bids, and you won, I know how it feels, and it's nerve racking position, you showed courage and now have the Ric

Yes it does look like Mario or maybe Maria has signed it, you take a nice clear pic with your camera~ the guitar look greats. Have fun!

I got lucky on ebay too. I "won" a 360-12 in fireglo.....unfortunately it was stripped of every part that could be removed except the trussrods and nuts. A thoroughly specious practice to be sure. So Ok, I like a project and have made many a "Parts-o-caster" in my day. I have even designed and built a couple of custom one of a kind guitars. But this one I want to get right! I have never before experienced the reverence for a brand (or should I say family) of guitars that I find on this forum. I only hope I can do this guitar justice in bringing it back to its former glory. I look forward to posting many questions to the helpful people that I have found on the forum posts, which I have eagerly read in my short time being among Ric owners. (Sorry for the run on sentence structure, I'm just so D*mn happy to be able to post here) I have wanted a Ric 12 since I was 14 in Southern California and listening to Mr. McGuinns first janglings live at times. Now that I have entered my 7th decade I think I've waited long enough to get my hands 'round this particular dream. Thanx for all the answers I have gotten off of the posts in this forum already. And thanx in advance for any answers you may offer to questions of my own in future.

Bernard..

Everything about your guitar looks fine to me... The colour of the fret board the paddle headstock with schaller tuners and the jet glo finish look perfectly correct for an 1989..

The only thing that throws me is the single truss rod.. My 320 (from 1977) has dual truss rods..

I have heard of single truss rod RICS before though... Perhaps John Hall will chime in and give you a definitive answer... :P

Here's a few pics of mine to compare...

Ontario-Rick-fan, what is written on the white tape inside the cavity on your 320, 320 and FR initials I can see clearly but I can't make out the other writing. Did you notice the cavity on the other 320 looks a different shape, but it might just be the angle of the photo, not too sure. Rickenbrother seems to think it's real, I really hope so, It sure looks right, but why a single rod, on an 89,,,,I thought all Ric's had dual rods, maybe I'm wrong!

A serial no check would answer some questions!

I know there were some 320 & 325 guitars made in the 1980s that had single truss rods, but I'm not sure what the date ranges are for that. From the codes on your pots, yours was likely made in 1990. Check the serial number in RIC's serial number decoder to find out for sure...
