I scan e-bay listings from time to time and came across something I'd not seen: a listing for a Rickenbacker 330 in "Pillarbox Red." It had black binding and was, apparently, from 1991. RIC did have an actual Red color from around the mid-'80s to late-'90s. |

We did have a color like this and generally the hardware and binding was black as pictured. However, judging from the pictures I can't say for sure this is the original finish on this guitar . . . it looks a little rougher than I would expect. But the color is certainly right. |

If at all possible, can you request a headstock shot? I did see a Ric copy with this exact color in a guitar magazine a few years ago. I don't know anything about the dealer or seller, so I can't be sure if my conjecture is out of place. Forgive me if it is. |

I think the color is done by Rickenbacker - even a little rougher... I say that because the blue plush lining in the case is also "a little rougher" compared to the blue plush in my case (and pictures generally). I believe rougher means slightly more "flourcent" or "beaming" or...
