Hey guys been thinking about getting a Rickenbacker for a long time, but never could get the money together.
Finally i'll be able to get one in a few months and i've been doing research online like crazy, reading articles and watching video's on all the various models.

I've been able to narrow it down to these two choices a 360 or 330, i'll be using the Ric primarily for blues and rock leads, until a few weeks ago i wasn't quite sure you could play that kind of music on a Ric, but my oldest brother, who's been playing for over 35 years and a few video's on Youtube convinced me that Ric's can play any type of music.

I would appreciate opinions from the Ric owners in here on both the 330 and 360 models to help me decide which one to get.

Thanks.

I had a recent 360; she and I just didn't gel. I really, really like the looks of the 330, but the sound does differ between it and the 360. From what I have heard on recordings, YT clips, etc, it has a slightly brighter tone.

My main concern with the 300 series would be volume and feedback. If you're planning on Blues/Rock leads, if you do anything with a good amount of gain, you may need a noise reduction pedal/device. Also, I found out the hard way that a Ric is often best with Compression. - Just a few thoughts. It doesn't really pertain to what guitar you pick.

Hi Mac,
If you go to the section called Just Guitars and go to page 7 (near the bottom of the page)....the topic 330 vs 360 is discussed there in length.
They are both great guitars and when I bought my 330 in August I was thinking the same way that you are now...I sat down in the shop and played them both, comparing different things that were important to ME. It's hard to explain but eventually the 330 just felt right for ME.... The 330 is also the most popular Ric model in terms of sales I believe...It's generally not as expensive as the deluxe model 360 either but the good thing is that you are in a win/win situation as they are both great guitars.
I think everyone looks for different things in a guitar so it's impossible to have anyone tell you which way to go. If possible, do what I did, go into the backroom, have a cup of tea, and play both guitars until you decide which is for you....Won't be an easy decision though!!

Hey thanks for the input, but i thought the high gain pickups on the recent 330 and 360 models was supposed to cut back on feedback? If i'm mistaken please let me know and maybe i'll start looking at Ric solid bodies instead....thanks.

Some of us resolve this deeply philosophical quandry by getting one of each !!! :D

Well you guy's have spooked me enough to revaluate getting a Rickenbacker altogether, because i wanted to play blues rock with some heavy distortion.

Now you guy's tell me i'll need a compressor to prevent feedback if i play with distortion, and if that's true, the last thing i want is yet another pedal to set up.

I think i might hold off for a while, unless someone can show or find me a video with a Ric 330 or 360 heavily distorted without a compressor pedal or feedback.

A compressor will increase feedback, not eliminate it. I don't think these guitars are at all unsuitable for blues with distortion, no matter what some inexperienced folks might say.

Just search "rickenbacker blues" on YouTube for a wide variety of examples.

I agree with John... There are lots of examples of Hollow Body Rickenbackers being used for Blues...

But I also think the 600 Series RICS are the MOST versatile guitars ever! So check out a 620 - or a 660 if you want a more vintage vibe... They are magical instruments IMHO.
