I simply thought that a post where people are free to post Rickenbacker music videos might help everybody to expand their music knowledge, get ideas for their bands’ repertoires or just listening to some good music.

What do you think? ;)

I'll start with:

Nice picks. Near Wild Heaven is one of those songs that define the Ric sound; it's astonishing because of that period in music was beginning to really make a strong turn, and R.E.M. were setting their own example.

- Love Carl. I think Carl is really underrated as a player, and Ric user. His signature model is beautiful.

- Geezer is also an underrated player.
(Sabbath is going through a reunion... Ugh. Let classic be classic.)

well if you're from Georgia you can't dislike REM, can you? ;)

nice selection btw, I love beach boys (was desperately looking for his signature ric once, but I gave up) and pet sounds is one of my 5 favorite records ever for sure!

I keep it up with an ultra-classic:

Many people of my generation have no idea who R.E.M. were. When I was in Junior High, I was the only kid who listened to them. I was also the only kid who wanted a Rickenbacker!

how old are you? anyway, obviously that makes you the coolest kid in the whole junior high! 8-)

back to the topic, let's keep it up hoping that other users will dig the game!

ps does anybody knows why the youtube tag doesn't work on the general forum?!

I'm twenty-one. My mother was in college in the eighties, and even when R.E.M. were big, they were no household names. It wasn't until "Losing My Religion" that it really blew up around these parts, and it died soon after. I have met R.E.M. fans who never bought anything after Out of Time, and some who stopped after New Adventures. It just goes to show even big hits aren't big hits everywhere.

While not a video, I think this counts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2-FhrlJ76c John Kay has the coolest signature model, and I have pics of him playing 381s with toasters from back in his day. The guitar bridge before the verse kicks back in is awesome; it definitely sounds like a Ric is in the mix!!!

it does, just place the video code between the youtube tags

btw, I started a youtube playlist for my favourite Ric videos, it only has 10+ videos now, but it will grow!

nice playlist!

on my browser the youtube tag started working just today though!

Ain'tGotNoPokemon, that definitely counts. ;)

about REM: out of time might be "commercial" but is surely a masterpiece, I wish there were commercial records with that quality around nowadays...

ps new adventures in hi fi is their best album ever imho.

Here are two from my hometown, Christchurch NZ, from about the same period of time (mid 1990's). I liked them both, but they are quite dissimilar :)

definitely not the typical rickenbacker tone, but worth a peek!
