Why doesn't RIC currently offer a 350 with the "R" tail piece?

In my opinion it looks far more aesthetic appealing than the trapeze.

I agree, I also wonder why they don't put a vibrato on it. In addition, the older 350s that came with hi-gain pickups had a 24 fret neck which resulted in close pickup placement which looks alot better that the current 350v63s which space the pickups too far apart (in my opinion).

Why don't they offer it with just two pickups? Why don't they offer that body style on a solid body instrument? (I really wish they did, but that's not the point.)

Probably because the current model sells pretty well, and they have enough work to do just building existing models.

Maybe someday in the future.

It's a simple mod to fit a R tailpiece or an even easier one to fit an Accent vibrato (I recently did).

I own a 350v63 but had a 350 some years back.

IMO, the 350v63 is a much better instrument. The 350 had a neck with 24 frets clear of the body making it a little neck heavy.

The v63 is much more balanced and the wider spaced pickups allow more tonal variation. I also think the vintage appointments are way cooler.

May be, but IMO the trapeze tail is butt-ugly.

The only problem is that the R-tailpiece is not for sale.

I really prefer 24 frets over 21. There is another point, nobody seems to consider: the 350 was more affordable than the current 350V63 is.

It's pointless to argue the toss if you really want a 350.

Buy one. If you patient you'll find what your looking for.

They pop up quite regularly on ebay and elsewhere.

Good luck.

However I find I like it better than the 'R' tailpiece for looks!

Indeed it is also a more practical way of stringing a RIC, many people on this forum have written in with complaints about the 'R' tailpiece to do with problems like changing a string at gigs, difficulty in adjusting bridge intonation etc.

Still, if you prefer style over function...

Cheers, Kez

I much prefer the look of the "R" tailpiece myself. As for changing strings, you can take my approach - if the strings need changing, I take it in for a setup!

I like the tail piece that what makes the V63
different. I just wish that you could order one
with any of the pickups. I'm not going to change
mine. As for looks of the guitar its in a class
of its own and has that sound that I like.
