If things go as I hope, this one will be mine today.

Actually, I always liked it myself and that option came in as part of the the original Ruby. I had seen a Mercedes in Bavaria with their Ruby finish, which had every bit of trim on the car, including the star grille blacked out. I really liked that Euro-black look but it seems most Americans didn't care for it when I put in on a guitar.

Apparently, "most" Americans are lacking a bit in the good taste department... But yeah, I have noticed that most people seem to prefer white/chrome. I don't know how many times I've had people tell me that my black trim basses would look "so much nicer with white."

...as much as I hate the guitar/car comparison, the "blacked out" looked with cars is very popular. Grills, rims, trim, etc all black is very cool looking. I've seen it more with upscale SUVs than cars. There are several video games that allow you to customize every aspect of your vehicle, and I like the idea of taking every aesthetic part of a vehicle the same color.
Too see it done with a guitar would be groundbreaking, in a sense. I have seen bodies and even headstocks that have every detail blacked out or the same color, but never an entire instrument (Unless you count brass instruments being painted).

Nice to come up with something different although this one is little too tutti frutti for me.

Well, I haven't heard someone use that term in a positive way since Little Richard, but... I can't see how Ruby is "tutti fruiti." I see it as a fairly masculine; I see red as a more male oriented color in general.

The 4004Cii that was displayed at The NAMM Show is officially mine today. Thank you very much to everyone at RIC! Thanks also to Chris and Shelby at Pick Of The Ricks! After 30 years of playing Ricks, it's still very special to get a new one! Here are a few pics. I know they aren't so great. I'll try to get some better pics this weekend. Here with other Cii's in the red family.
