On the new Ric Facebook page, there is an awesome picture of the a 360 with a cool pattern/figure in the wood. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid= ... =1&theater Is this common on the clearer finishes, such as Mapleglo and Fireglo? Has anyone got pictures of their Rics with cool wood grain? Both of the two Rics I have owned were Jetglo, so I wouldn't know. I want my 330 to be Fireglo, but the Mapleglo looks really cool, and if it has a cool figure like that, I'll definitely want one!

Usually, the better looking wood is used for the MapleGlo and FireGlo instruments, and the less pretty stuff gets painted over with JetGlo. No 2 are exactly the same, but there you go.

I wouldn't call it unattractive, because such a natural design appeals to me.

I've got a '97 370/12 Maple Glow with very attractive graining on the top and bottom, and a 2007 360/6 Fire Glow with stunning wood figuring on the fingerboard. I haven't been able to take photos of either of those guitars that catches the real beauty of the wood, though. That's always surprised me, because photos I've taken of nice wood on some of my other guitars reflects accurately how good the wood looks, but the Rics never show as well in photos as they do in real life.

Try increasing the contrast of the pictures on your computer.

I'm pretty certain Ben and others help select aesthetically-pleasing wood for the trans finishes.
What I like about RIC is they allow wabi-sabi in their wood grain and it often follows the guitar shape to an extent. I've read ignorant-sounding complaints about this but I couldn't disagree with them more! I'm so sick of those perfectly symmetrical ultra-flame tops you see all over the place nowadays. I prefer the way RIC does it.

Here's a lousy pic of my c63, providing the perfect amount of flamey warmth for a Chicago winter.  Capturing the figure in woods in photographs can be tricky. Burst Les Paul guys stress out all day long about that. :^)
