Hello,
Looking seriously at a 650 or 660, but have no dealers near me. I am accustomed to the 1 3/4" nut width as I primarily play acoustics. I also like the beefier necks as I do a fair amount of thumb wrapping.
Does anyone on the forum have the ability to desrcibe the neck profile in terms of comparison to Taylor, Martin, Goodall, ...?

Thanks,
JB99

Hi there, I have a 650D Dakota, amongst a lot of other different makes. The neck is not like anything else I have ( 2 top end customs, LP std + studio, telecaster 52 and Strat deluxe etc). I too do a lot of thumb wrapping, and although the neck is quite wide, it has a slim profile. This combination for me, probably makes this as completely playable as anything I have! I love it to pieces, and the finish is to die for. Everything about this is perfect for me, but if you want a really beefie distored sound, like an LP, then the pickups are probably not as good. Its great for blues and the clean sounds and sustain are wonderful. Hope this limited answer assists you. Also the 650 is as good a value as you will get for what I consider to be a top end, excellent instrument. When you have one of these in your hands, you will love it!

Thanks Steve,
I like the idea of the clean tone.
Is it possible for you to put a caliper to the neck at the second fret to give me an idea how "slim" the profile is?
Thanks,
JB99

Also interested to know general shape. Oval?, Round?, V?, Flat backed?
All assistance will be appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi JB, Will measure and get back to you, also to start this is the slimmest profile guitar I have. Would say it is slightly rounded,or oval. Finger board is flat. Will send photos if that will help, with the measurement. Steve

Thanks very much, Steve,
Is that to the strings, or to the board?
I just measured my Taylor 814ce and it's 2.3 cm to the strings. The 650 may be an ok fit for me.
Looking forward to the photo and reply.

Steve is right on with his description of the Dakota neck. The radius is 10" so it facilitates playing lead.

Also, though it does sound great clean, overdriven is heavenly, especially for blues.

Perfect guitar. I love mine.

Mark

Hi JB,
The measurement is to the board.
The photo was sent earlier so you should have it now. I sent it to the email address registered here.
Best wishes,Steve

Hey Mark,
Sounds like you enjoy your Dakota as much as I do. It really does the blues for me, and it feels so gooooood! Steve
