:D :D
After continous research, both on here and the internet.... after complaining about availability..... after saving up ( well a bank loan..first time in my life )...... After stupidly selling a 330 and 360/12 ( some 18 and 14 years respectively).. After recurring dreams of owning a Rick.. I've eventually got one again!!!!
I can't believe it..I've got the guitar next to me on the sofa and I can't take my eyes off her! It's like a dream, it really is. It's fantastic.
She is so beautiful I'm almost afraid of playing her!..I just wanna enjoy looking..bit like a first date!.....
Anyway, I'm really happy and it's a fantastic 40th birthday present...And, as predicted, the wife wants one now as well :D
( Also an added bonus is that I got the guitar from just outside liverpool and going to the Cavern Club last night, was amazing as well........ :D :D

Congratulations and enjoy your 330! :)
I sold my 330 many years ago and boy do I regret it! I hope to have one again someday in Jetglo.

Isn't Davids post simply not "the meaning of life as Rickenbacker CEO"? It must be :D

...and the "this is not...-post" is nonsens because waiting is necsessary if we want top quaility build Rickenbackers in the future as well. And of course we do. If you want a new guitar today - you can get one straight away - but it will never get any close to the CS-like build quality of a Rickenbacker - no matter the year btw.

We (many of us) grew up with Rickenbackers - as played by The Beatles and The Birds etc. - and we wanted one so badly, that it's almost impossiple to describe. When we finally got one we found out, that they also were excellently musical instruments. And that's one of the secrets behind Rickenbackers, and that's why David never forgot those he regretably sold, and that's why we happily wait for years to get one - as you wait for any hand build instrument in the world if you ordered it.

Great work David you got something worth waiting for but didn't really wait that long.
What you do have to do now is hold on to this one, it a present for your 40th so enjoy it for another 40 years. Oh yes one for your wife seems in order!

I played her at an open mic night tonight and just playing a Rickenbacker boosted my confidence, believe it or not...Really enjoyed it...Although after playing an acoustic with 12 gauge strings for 7 years, I realize that I need to modify and adjust certain parts of my playing style now.. Those 10 gauge strings seemed so light I thought they were gonna snap!!!
I will persevere for now with the 10s but may eventually decide to set it up with 12s or 11s....we'll see how it goes. Would there be any problem using 12's?........ :|
I think it's been discussed before so i'll look it up.
I also want to mention how friendly and helpful the manager, Tim was at Sound Affects in Omskirk, where I bought my guitar. He let me try out a few Ric models at my leisure. He didn't pressure me..he just let me get on with it and yet he was there whenever I needed any advice or questions answered.....He had 30 models in stock, which is superb and also made a very nice cup of tea!!
My wife wants one now so I know where I'll be going for that :)
