I'm a dutch bass player who has been into Rickenbacker instruments for a long time but in denial. Played all sorts of basses over the past 24 years, owned a 5 string 4003 and a 4 string 4003 (both mapleglo) along the way and flogged them to get other stuff...

For the last 4 years I played german built active basses exclusively but I wanted a passive tone monster to complement these hi-fi like basses for some pure rock & roll vibes.

Thus last week a new Jetglo 4003 arrived on my doorstep, checking its serial number revealed it was then only 9 weeks since it had left the Rickenbacker factory doors! It has that really nice new fretboard and man have I fallen in love with this instrument! Currently working on Siberian Khatru as I finally got that tone...

Anyway long story short hi there folks!

My neighbor is correct. Jetglo or even Mapleglow, Fireglow, Blueburst or Ruby!
