Post subject:  These jack plates DO NOT FIT!! Beware!!
I was tempted to get one of these, whilst I get my 4001 plate re-chromed! The dimensions are all wrong! They're probably even infringing on Ric copyright, by quoting "Rickenbacker"

I've never been across any after market guitar part that matched the original guitar - and that counts for all leading guitar brands and all leading aftermarket brands. And I know because I spend the years changing just about any guitar part interchangeable on any guitar - everything :D My last attempt was in 2008 when I bought some parts for my LP (pickup rings...) and did they match the holes in the guitar? No! So my general advice is - don't spend your money on aftermarket parts :D

There is a schematic listed on the purchase page along with a note that says to check the dimensions to make sure the plate will match up to your instrument. Are you saying that the listed dimensions do not match up with the part that you recieved?

This statement is SO not true. You just need to be very particular when searching the net with specs in hand. As an example....Bart 6RC pickups, Dipshot HB5 tuners, Dipshot bridges, various electronic components & jackplates for mono RIC guitars are all parts that I've used that are made to fit a 4001/4003 perfectly. Don't even get me started on Fender, Gibson or Music Man.

In my experience, buying something blind from a non-specialty site such as eBay or Amazon can sometimes lead to disappointment because the sellers don't know what they are really doing. I received a lap steel fitted with classical nylon-string tuners recently. My guess is not that they were offering a new breed of lap nylon guitar but just slapped on the cheapest part available because they didn't know any better.

Some of the sellers will show you a schematic. One stellar example is StewMac who almost always have a detailed technical drawing for you to check. They sell for a little more but then I've never been tempted just to toss one of their offerings as a piece of junk.

Many offerings DO work as planned, but sometimes even the genuine ones can be off, as in the case of a bad batch of Schaller strap locks that didn't fit together quite right, but quickly replaced no questions asked.
