Yeah, it's one of THESE posts
I've always loved Rickenbackers. From listening to The Beatles, The Who, Creedence, Petty, to drooling over the 360/12v64 in "That Thing You Do!" to watching my dad play about a thousand different ones over the years.
My time is almost here. I will be getting my first Rickenbacker one week from tomorrow, as a graduation present. I don't know precisely which one, I only know it's going to be a 12-string. My father is in charge of acquiring it, and he knows what's what with Rickenbackers, so I have faith.
I have speculated which one I'm going to be getting though. The most likely candidate is a certain Mapleglo 370/12 that my dad has put away and not used in years. It's a mid-2000s model that came with factory Toasters, and it was intended for stage use with a local charity band that he is no longer playing with, and I can tell it has little sentimental value to him. I also know I won't be getting a c63 as I once requested, because he is no longer a fan of the 21-fret neck 12-strings due to their inherent problems.
Who knows though, maybe it will be a surprise new purchase that I never saw coming!
Anyway, that's all I've got so far, glad to be on the forum, and can't wait to share pics and info when I get my new baby!
