It was a combination of only moderate demand and the difficulty producing this color. Our plan this year is to produce significantly more instruments and bring the backlog to a manageable level; eliminating such a difficult color will help us to achieve this goal.

Thanks for the reply, Mr. Hall! I still love the color, but I can understand how you have to make business decisions from time to time. I really loved the Color of the Year program that you used to do. I also liked the Burgundy color--maybe that could replace Ruby, since you wouldn't need the silver undercoating and it would cut down on painting time.

I just bought a new 2016 4003Rby. I was going to buy it anyway, not knowing the Ruby color was discontinued. When the sales rep. told me about the discontinuing, I was surprised. I didn't realize the Ruby finish was more difficult to produce than the other colors. It makes sense though. I'm glad I have mine. The Ruby is a beautiful finish, on a beautiful 4003 bass! Thank you Mr. Hall, for the informative information, as always. 8-)

Let it never be said that the romance is dead
'Cause there's so little else occupying my head
There is nothing I need except the function to breathe
But I'm not really fussed, doesn't matter to me

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby
Aha-aha-aaa
Do ya, do ya, do ya, do ya
Aha-aha-aaa
Know what ya doing, doing to me?
Aha-aha-aaa
Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby
Aha-aha-aaa

I actually prefer the BurgundyGlo they had a few years back because it showed the wood grain!
