C'mon guys, what's your version of the famous opening chord.I think I've nailed it but what fingeribg do you guys use.I've never seen it written down anywhere and I am insistent with all my music buddies that it can only be reproduced on a RIC 12. |

Well, if it's that exact sound your after, I'm assuming that only a Ric 12 string will do it. |

I don't think it's a question of whether it's a Rickenbacker 12 or not. The answer to that is a matter of historical record. The question appears to be of the tonal construction of that particular chord. The post's starter is asking us to "re-nail" it. This sounds like a fun challenge and I'm really interested in reading the results. |

I wouldn't bet my life on it, but 353533 sounds good to me |

Yes,I play it on a 360/12.It doesn't work on a six. |

I think Guy is damn close as GH played a lot of barre chords which I don't.I play it form the top string down ie Low E as 1st string not played,2nd string not played,3rd string open,4th string open,5th string 1st fret,6th string 3rd fret. This gives the notes D,G,C(+C),D,G,another G(+G) in ascending scale. The same notes as Guy but because the octive activity on a twelve you get a completely different tonality than a 6.Hey,I just thought of a new word for octave activity..Octivity!!!!! |

I've always played it a basic G suspended (5th). I thought was 355533. Now, I've got to go warm-up the Showman and try your all's versions! |

I'm with guy_incognito - 353533 - that's the I plays it. And I figure I just spent about $2500 Cdn just to play that one chord - and it was worth it! I had a photo taken of the first one. So now I figure everything else I play is free from here on. |

ive always played it 353533, but i stumbled upon 300013 and it sounds closer to me. somehow that open 'a' string gives it the right sound to me...now go grab that 360/12 & try it! chris |
