Possibly off-topic here, but on the song "Nowhere Man" at the very end of George's guitar solo there is that immediate very high pleasing note that still to this day sounds glorious and always makes me smile.
*What my question is, is that note played on a guitar or is it possibly George Martin hitting a note on the Abbey Road Studios harmonium?
(My current thinking to my ears is that I tend to believe it's the harmonium, but I'm far less then certain. The official EMI published "Beatles Recording Sessions" book makes no mention of it at all).
What do you think? That's a note played by George Harrison on his Fender Stratocaster. George said he used the guitar a lot for the "Rubber Soul" album and in particular "the solo on 'Nowhere Man' where John and I both played in unison." Also on "Rubber Soul," George played his second Rickenbacker 360/12 on "If I Needed Someone."

I always play that note as a harmonic at the 5th fret on the high E string, thats what my old beatles tab book told me and it sounds just like it.

That last high note at in the solo for Nowhere Man is done by hitting the harmonic on the twelfth fret of the high e string.
Or like Rory (above) says!

I always played that harmonic on the 12th fret - never thought about using the 5th! I like it!

And as an aside:
Author Bruce Spizer's books and and interview links on the web are simply amazing!
Bruce never gets into the guitar aspects of the Beatles, but in regards to their history with Capitol Records USA, their launching in USA and Apple Records his stuff is pinpoint accurate and exceptionally well researched.
Like many of us, Bruce is a true first generation Beatles' fan and also a tax attorney and CPA. He gets stuff right and in the process of his thorough research he has corrected many errors previously reported endlessly in many of the various Beatles books.

I've been a member of this Forum since just April and yesterday I finally made the grade to "guitar god"!

Ric owners and fellow travelers are excepiontally great people. (I've only been a Ric fan for a mere 42 years!)
Great, unique guitars, great company owners (the Hall family) and gee! ...
Those four guys from Liverpool that so helped Rickenbackers' fame and following globally explode, weren't so bad either!

And regrettably with this, we were approaching the very end of the "Rickenbacker saga" with John and George and sadly enough this newer 360/12 would happen to be the guitar stolen from George in very late August or early Sept. 1966.
Ironically thought it be with those Epiphone Casinos crunchning away on Vox amps all around him Paul would begin his intense in-studio use of his trusty 4001 Ric bass!
