I love mine, I've never seen anyone else play one though. They've got a much larger neck than most mandos which makes the 5002 more comfortable for me and they sound great.

I also, never saw someone “famous” use one. I have a FG now, and a MB on order. They are so small and light. It sounds great thru my all tube Fen##r amp, with its’ vintage pick up.

I believe that Peter Buck owns a JG 5002V58. I've never seen him play it though.

Peter does have one and plays his on certain tunes, as does Mary Chapin Carpenter. Fred Newell played his religiously with Waylon Jennings.

Obviously mandolins in general aren't as ubiquitous as guitars.

Not only have I never seen one but I don't even know where to find one. I play mandolin and I'm searching for a electric mano, this would be perfect but none of the stores by me in NJ carry them.
