I bought a 660 75th. It came with the regular Ric molded case. I had read that the 660 would have the silver case. Anyone know the story? Did Ric maybe run out of the silver ones and make a substitute?

Thanks

I was under the same impression. But in looking at price lists going back a few years, the 660 shipped with the molded SKB case, which answered my own doubts. It would have been nice if the 660 anniversary guitars came with the vintage case, given all the other vintage features on the guitar, it would have been appropriate.

This is a double post, with replies in each, but I'm only going to reply to this one.

Vintage cases are only offered standard on reissue models. The 660 is not and never has been a reissue, otherwise it would have had a "V" or "C" in the model number. Even I get confused about that sometimes!

Maybe in 40 years it will warrant a V classification.

In 40 years, the standard case currently manufactured might well be a "vintage standard case" option as RIC celebrates their 115th Anniversary.

There's a lot of Rickenbacker guitar history to be made between now and then!

I thought in 40 years we'll see the case with the window which was suggested here a few months ago ;) hehe..
