From what I can tell, Rickenbacker uses print ads fairly frequently in the major guitar magazines.

Actually, we don't advertise much a) because we don't need to and have the business we can handle and b) it upsets people that we would be advertising to get more business, when we already have a backlog.

We only advertise in Guitar World, Guitar Aficionado, and Music Trade, mainly so people can find us for service and parts. I think we're going to drop two of those soon but bring on another magazine, for a little wider reach.

I seem to remember ads in Acoustic Guitar several years ago, but y'all must have dropped it as a magazine to advertise in.

We've never advertised in Acoustic Guitar. Actually, I've never seen or heard of it, to be honest.

Maybe it was in Guitar Player, then The ad I'm thinking of had a Maple-glo 381/12 reissue (I think). You should check out Acoustic Guitar. It's a pretty decent magazine.

Here's a question/challenge for John Hall and the Ric Outlet. If you go on to eBay USA right now and search in Musical Instruments for 'rickenbacker < $50', you will find lots of old magazine adverts for Ric guitars, basses & amps, selling for somewhere between $10 and $25 a pop. On the assumption that the Ric Corporation owns the copyright to these advertisements, would it not be better to make them available to the worldwide family of Rickenbacker owners (like myself) through the Ric Outlet or via the RRF? The advertisements chart the history of Rickenbacker and its products. I would much prefer to be able to access them in high-quality reproduction posters, or a Ric calendar, or best of all in a quality book publication, rather than flimsy pages torn out of old used music magazines? I'm no expert in marketing, but I know for sure that I would be a customer. Just a thought.

I noticed that international delivery WAS availlable on the Ebay/Ric-Outlet stuff!

So come on, please let us chaps, on the other side of the pond, be able to start buying either from The Boutique on the Ric site, or at least from some of the US independent Ric vendors, for spare parts etc. One US vendor, will ship anything worldwide EXCEPT for Ric parts!

Over here in the UK, from the official spares supplier, we pay the same figure (or more) in GB Pounds, that you lucky folks pay in US dollars! With an exchange rate of 1.6 dollars / 1.0GBP, that's not very fair :-(

Call me a thicky, but international shipping does NOT cause a 60% price hike!

Some of the UK/Ireland based vendors can beat the official Ric spares vendor, but not by much.

So - why the embargo on those of us outside of North/South America, sourcing our spares direct from the US, with honest shipping charges?

Frustrated.

VC

John, Thanks-I thought so but, was a little confused between "advertising and finding the company" for the old timers and fans in seeing it all in print.

I'd love to see this but the link to the eBay store doesn't work and an exhaustive search on eBay turns up no results.
anybody have a link that works?
