Post subject:  truss rod for early 70's 4001?

Hello, I am in need of a truss rod for my '71 4001. After adding a block to stop the nuts from diving into the headstock I snapped one of the rod's threads off. I saw the new truss rods on the Rick site but they are only for later models. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks

See my post in the other topic about 78 4001's, you can have new ends welded on.

Or you can re-thread the existing rods. Feel free to contact me for further details.

If only the threaded portion is damaged, you have an easy solution. Cut off the damaged half of the rod by the amount snapped off the previously threaded portion, then re-thread the longer part with a hardware store die. That's it!

The loss of even 2 inches makes little difference as the portion down near the body doesn't really do much anyway.

Rick, thanks for the easy solution. one last question, can you tell me what size thread is used and can I purchase a replacement nut from the factory?
