Am rediscovering my Rickenbackers after working away from them for some years....the baby blue lefty 360 plays just fine, but the black 360/12 has developed a very high action so probably need a truss rod adjustment. Currently in a small Spanish village so no hope of a luthier. It's an '88 model, so any reason why I can't just tighten the rods a little?? To be honest I mostly play it in the open position, so won't be using feeler gauges for optimum action....just " a little lower". Incidentally.....they're awfully nice guitars aren't they? Guess I'm pretty lucky to own 2 such cool lefties

With an '88 model, you can indeed just tighten the rods - No special procedure needed. You should check to see if there is bow in the neck necessitating a truss rod adjustment first. Ricks tend to intonate and perform best with an absolutely flat neck setup.

hey Merlin,
be very careful tightening those rods, you can actually crack the neck at the nut.
Ironic that it was the Spaniards who brought the guitar to America, and there are no luthiers in Spain.
Muy ironico!

Thanks for the advice.....and hello Zurdo from a fellow lefty. There surely are luthiers in Spain, but not in this village of 2000 people
