Hi, I was wondering what kind of a sound you would get if you fitted a bass pickup in between the two original pickups on a 620. Would it be worth doing? or would I wreck my guitar (if/when I get it)

the only difference between a bass high gain pickup and guitar high gain pickup is the number of pole pieces ... 6 or 4 ... and they take different screws ... the magnets and coils are the same ... and the hb1 for bass and guitar is the same ... so if 2 pickups aren't enough then add a third but don't put a 4 pole pickup in there ...

Any routing on a guitar will render it almost valueless. If you can do it by just cutting the pickguard, then get a cheap replacement pickguard and stash the original for later use. I have never seen a mod to a guitar that didn't pretty much ruin it as far as value goes but if it truly gives you some serious inspiration and sounds much better, it can be a good thing but thats RARE!! Most of the time it's just a hack job that is regretted later.

No difference. Bass and guitar pickups are wound the same. The 4001 bridge pickup has a larger magnet to get more highs. That's all. Leave your fine guitar alone and just play it instead of whittling on it.

I have to agree with Ric5. The four pole pieces in the bass pickup won't line up under your six string 620. Definiitely not advisable.

I'm not about to ruin a perfectly innocent first Ric. That idea flew straight out the window as soon as I found it!
