Here's a little Vintage Series and C Series timeline:

December 2000-Last call for the 325V59, 325V63, 360/12V64 and the 4001V63 models.

January 2001-The C Series is introduced and available for orders from RIC dealers.

Late Summer 2002-The first C Series models, the 325C58 guitars, arrive at dealers.

You forgot January 2009-Last call for the 325C58.

i sourced some "burns like" metal knobs - the black pointer needs lightly sanded off so they might just do as the dimensions are ok except for the little bit of machining around the top - pls let me know what you think.

The knobs you sourced are somewhat close, yet different than the Burns knobs. You already pointed out the machined lip on these, which the Burns knobs do not have. Thses also have a flat top - The Burns knobs have a slightly concave curve to the top. The pointer may or may not be recessed into the top of these knobs.

Exact reproductions of the Burns knobs can be found here:

(about halfway down the page.)

You may also want to consider the open backed Grover tuners and the Bigsby bow tie bridge like Lennon's Rick had.

I just bought a 325v59 that was made in 2001. How is that possible? Anyone?

Welcome to the RIC Forums. In December of 2000, the "last call" was for orders to be placed for the models that were being discontinued. RIC manufactured the guitars that were ordered in the following months and years till all "last call" orders were completed.

I had a couple of questions about the early 80's 325v59's as well.

Did they leave the factory with the Deluxe tuners or with the open gear Grovers?

Also did Rickenbacker not completely add the gloss finish the neck, where it meets the body. You know the part right between where it joins the body and the neck pickup. Have seen newer ones, where it is finished and older ones where it is not.

Have a 1985 325v59 "Lennonized" with Bigsby, Burns, Grovers. Just curious.

Thanks!
