I have read on other forums that along with the new 12 string headstock, a new wider spaced nut is also being used. Is this nut available in the boutique section? If so this would be a great thing as it would allow many people to modify any existing 12 string they have.

Quote: I have read on other forums that along with the new 12 string headstock, a new wider spaced nut is also being used. It's not a new nut- we just decided that customer preference has changed to permit the use of the binding area of the fingerboard as additional playing space. We therefore simply started to use the well established 330/12 string nut on 360/12 type instruments, and more recently, the old 610/12 nut on the 620/12 guitars. I looked up the design date on these parts awhile back and it was something like 10 years ago, so "new" might not be the right word, unless you qualify it as "new usage".

My 1997 330/12 has a sting spacing appromatly 1/16 in. narrower than my 1996 360/12. Why is that and do you think the nut listed in the boutique page would be wider?

Since that was right about the ten year mark that John just stated, I imagine there was a crossover period where the wider spaced nuts were being phased in, and the narrower spaced nuts were phased out.

Hi again Beatlefreak. I know you have responded elsewhere in the forum to me, but as I have a 1992 330/12,is it possible I already have the the 'new' nut from the boutique, or is that too long ago?

I have a 2002 360-12 and a 2006 620-12 with the wider spaced nut.Although the 620-12 is a lot easier to play, i wont replace the nut on the 360-12 --i,m getting used to it and would not want to alter that unique sound and feel not to mention the vibe.
