I went to adjust the neck on my '86 4001 and couldn't adjust the bass side truss rod. The nut seems to be lower than the other one so I can't get a nut wrench around it because there is little space on the bottom. I'm not the original owner and this is the first time I looked at the truss rods. The rest of the bass is in excellent condition. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. A 4001 from '86? That's kind of late for a 4001. Are you sure it's not a 4003? Use the link below and then click on "4001 Setup Part 1" on the left side of the page.

JBN Rickenbacker Setup/Maintenance Videos

I hope that helps you.
