Hey all, where's the best place to find the foam mounting pads under the pickups for a fair price or, more realistically, some foam adhesive tape that I could cut to fit?
Bonus question, where's a good online site to buy new potentiometers? I'm assuming in the broad scheme of things they're all more or less the same?

Yeah it's a one-time charge, but I'm not too keen on paying chump tax is all. I tend to make a habit of avoiding it like I avoid littering... call it a personal crusade.

Rick pickups also have unique footprint, so good luck finding properly fitting pads anywhere else. As for foam rubber strips you can cut to fit yourself. . . let's just say it's a readily available item. Do you really think it's polite to post on a company-brand sponsored website, made available to Rick fans at no cost to them, where the company offers the products in question for sale, and ask if someone can tell you where you can buy a product the company makes, somewhere else more cheaply   Poor forum member etiquette, IMO.

I agree with Paulie. For $21.10 you pay for the convenience of having it shaped correctly for you and the time it takes for the a person to prepare the part. If you don't want to pay $21.10 for two pieces of foam, you can just go a hardware store and buy some sticky back foam rubber (which might not work as well as what RIC will send you) and take the time to size and shape it yourself instead of griping about it on the forum.

...And there's always the risk that the substitute material may damage the finish of the guitar. The convenience of obtaining the correct material, manufactured at the correct dimensions, is the failsafe option that assures a successful result as well as the peace of mind that comes with it.
