Can the toaster pick-ups be installed on a new model 360/12 ? It states in the Boutique they don't work on a 360/12C63 neck position which I'm not sure what that means.

This has to do with "long magnets" as opposed to "short magnets." Most of the reissue pickups, including those purchased individually, have the "long magnets" that stick out below the bottom of the pickup, like the bar magnet does on the high gains. So any instrument that has high gains can easily be retrofitted with the standard for sale separately toasters because the bodies of the instruments are routed for the magnets sticking out the bottom of the pickups.
However, on this particular reissue, to get it as close to historical accuracy, warts and all, a different toaster pickup is used that has shorter magnets that do not stick out below the bottom of the pickup. So these pickups set on top of the guitar body, with only the little hole drilled in the strategic place for the pickup lead, and not routed out.
Ah, to have a matching set of short & long magnet toasters!

iiipopes,
Thank you for your very informative response. You obviously know your Rics. So I guess that means the reissue toasters won't work on the pick-up at the neck. Is there is a trough for the magnets that stick out beneath the pick-up why wouldn't they work. I'm not really worried about historical accuracy I like the sound of the toasters on the 12 string.
Is there another type toaster that has to be ordered for the neck pick-up ?

The vintage guitar toasters available in the boutique will work in the 360,330 or 620/12 strings,to replace the factory stock hi-gains.The neck pickup issue only applies to 360/12C63.
