Hi all

Ive owned a RIC 620/6 for about 2 years now and previously i owned a RIC 330/6 the only thing I've noticed about the 620 is the neck radius isn't as flat as the 330 infact its a lot more curved and no matter how many times i adjust the action i.e. bridge truss rod nothing seems to work.

I was thinking maybe it could need a fret dress but the frets don't really have much fret ware from what i can see?

Pictures would be helpful, but if there is any buzzing or dead notes, the frets do probably need some attention.

Hi I've added some URL links to some pics I've just taken, It hard to capture what tim trying to explain in a photo but you can see there is quite abit of curve across the width of the fretboard.

Hmm... Sounds to me like a fret level may be what you need.

There's nothing that the the truss rod or bridge adjustment is going to do for "radius", only "relief". Fret dressing could theoretically affect "radius" but not very much, and is also usually associated with relief.

So, which is it that you're really concerned with?

I'm just wondering if the fretboard should have the same flat feet as my Old 330 which looked and felt less curved

The radius on 620's and 330's is the same and has been for many, many years. It's also not "adjustable" or modifiable by the user. We're talking about the curvature of the frets here.

Curvature of the neck (which has nothing to do with radius) *IS* something you can adjust and both models are equally adjustable, although there may be some slight variation in the degree between individual instruments and model years.

Ive looks at the neck and there is a little releif (using the capo on the 1st fret method) on both the bass and treble slide, looks like I'm gonna have to find a local hardware store that will sell the appropriate wrench for the truss rod so get the neck perfectly straight on both sides

Just be sure to read the owner's manual (service tab above) neck adjustment section regarding proper tools before you pick one up.

In regard to your frets, they don't even look broken in yet; brand new, actually.

Also bare in mind that Ric frets are different than a lot of other frets from other companies. The Ric frets have a more flattop, whereas I notice Fender and Gibsons are usually entirely round.
