Is it this?: http://boutique.rickenbacker.com/POTENT ... p_666.html

Hope it's not too stupid of a question; I ask because I remember talk that the new part would fit in a 4001, as opposed to the old part, but the part I linked seems to be pretty "tall" compared to standard pots like the old pot. Also, this one looks like, rather than DPDT on/on, more of an SPDT on/off. Am I right?

Definitely looks like it.

At least looks like what I did receive. It will fit a 4001.

Yep, that's the new, redesigned version...

It's a lower profile, more mechanically and electronically sound pot from CTS. It also uses our standard pot taper. The SPST switch, which is all that's necessary for the vintage/modern circuit, has smoother action and a significantly longer rated lifetime.

The overall mounted height is taller than a single pot but less than the previously used Alpha part and fits a wider range of instruments as a result.

Thanks everyone. So it does fit a late F.C. Hall-era 4001 without problems? (Colonel, what vintage of bass did you install yours in?)

Also, hate to sound like a broken record but, is this on/off rather than on/on? Just need to know to design my wiring harness correctly. I guess with only two lugs, it pretty much has to be on/off.

Yep, SPST - single pole, single throw, means a simple on-off type switch, and that's what we have here...

I have installed it in a 1990 4003 and a 1997 4001v63. But I assure you it will fit in a 4001 from the 70ies based on my recollection of the one I had until last year (I "opened the hood" frequently).
