I'm taking my 620 to Music Zoo in Roslyn. NY for a repair. Th instrument puts out a loud AC buzz as soon as it's plugged in. I've checked the harness and visually everything looks okay. Does anyone know what could be causing this kind of noise?

Could be a bad ground. Have you tried other guitar cables or amps to be sure it's not your 620? If it's just a bad ground, The Music Zoo should have it fixed quickly with no problem.

Thank you for the reply. There's no doubt it's the guitar.

It also could be the amp, the house wiring, or even the lighting in the room you're in (seriously). Change every variable to isolate the problem, including taking the guitar and a few different amps to another house to plug in.

All possible variables have been checked. The instrument has been with a tech for days and he has checked every gound and connection and cannot find the cause. I'm at my wits end here.

Did he check the output jack? That's sometimes hard to tell if if it's bad, by just looking at it.

Really, this kind of problem is easily fixed by anyone who just takes the time to check each joint with a multimeter. I don't know why it always ends up the tech has no idea what to do.

One would think that's something the guitar repairman would do in this case.

Joey, it never ceases to amaze me--even guitar techs and accredited luthiers that I hold in high esteem often treat passive wiring like a black box not to be touched. I find the wood work way scarier!

OP, good luck.

Joshua, I know what you mean. Some of the repairs or modifications I've some so called guitar repairmen do, left be bewildered. From a long time ago, I'd realized that I'm proabably better off knowing how to deal with set ups and at least minor mods and repairs myself.
