I am interested in restringing my 360-12 with very light strings. Can someone please recommend a good recipe for making my own custom set. If you can just give me the gauges you think would work out well for me, I would really appreciate!!

For my "Gibson scale" 6-strings, I use Ernie Ball Slinkies gauged: .009"; .012"; .016"; .026"W; .036"W; .046"W (same as their Hybrid Slink set, but with a .012" for the B string instead of the standard .011", which I find too light). For the 12-string neck on my Danelectro double-neck, to the above I add, as octave strings, Ernie Ball Slinkies gauged: .009"; .012"; .008"; .010"; .015"; .024"W (if I recall correctly). These work very well for me and provide a very consistent tension.

I would suggest keeping a wound G no matter how light you have the other gauges.

I agree 100% with AGNP, the G pairing of wound/plain is very important to the Ric 12 sound.

Here's what I've used for decades, made up of D'addario singles and wounds custom ordered (yes, including the wound G unison and odd B strings)

9 - 9 ; 11 1/2 - 11 1/2 ; 17w - 8 ; 24w - 10 ; 32w - 14 ; 42w - 22 w.

These intonate well on a standard 6-saddle bridge, with one exception: the low E. I did have to purchase a blank saddle and file it offset for the unison low E to intonate off the back edge of the saddle and the octave E to intonate off the front edge of the saddle.

Sometime, if I can't get the 11 1/2's, plain 11's like out of a standard 9-42 set will work. If I can't get the 17w's, I use 18w's.

I've occasionally experimented with other gauges, like a 13 plain octave A string, or a 40w low unison E, but what I have above is about the lightest that will be consistent in tone and feel and not tend to pull sharp.
