Grind down the outer shell, but don't go so thin that you lose integrity of the socket.

The wrenches we offer are already ground down.

I just received my 4003S FG and it is a fantastic instrument. With my truss rod cavity, however, there is quite a narrow gap between the truss Rod nut and the wood so using the RIC truss Rod wrench as well as a thinner caliber 1/4 " truss Rod wrench, I can't get the wrench on the nut to adjust the rods. Any suggestions? ... bit of sandpaper, or a fine file to create more space? I would prefer to disturb the wood as little as possible. Thanks!

Don't do anything to the instrument.

Let's assume you have a genuine RIC wrench that already been ground; perhaps the grinding was imperfect. Try and put a bit of a chamfer or bevel on the rim of the wrench socket so that you can get it onto the nut. Then you can use that to bend the nut away slightly from the neck and adjust it.

Yes, the wrench I have is the official RIC TRC adjustment wrench. I have used it on my many other RIC instruments without any difficulties. I will certainly do as you suggest, Mr. Hall. Thank you for taking the time to respond personally. If I am unsuccessful, would you suggest I contact Customer Service? Thanks, again for your help.

Dear Mr Hall and iiipopes thanks for the advice regarding the 1/4" nut tool. I ground it down with a metal file and beveled the edges a little and I am now able to adjust my 4003S truss rods without any problems. Thanks again!
