I am hopeful one of you could point me in the right direction. I was at rehearsal when my neck pickup started sounding sound weak and thin on my 2009 Rickenbacker 360. I took a look in the control cavities, pots, and input jacks to for a loose wire, but everything seemed ok.

Here is another "clue". When I am in the neck position; if I turn the neck tone down, the volume drops as well.

Any advice would be helpful in fixing this problem.

Cheers

A quick question. You are plugged into the normal jack (the one closest to the strap bolt)?

If you plug a mono cable into the stereo ric o sound output you lose one pick up completely.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I am in the "standard" input jack. I wish this fix would be that easy :D

Hey, Thanks for the reply.

I am using the right input jack...I wish it was that easy to fix! :D I can't imagine the pickup going out so fast.

Once again, thanks for the reply.

Sometimes the fingers of the jacks that tie everything together can get corroded. Does the neck pickup work when using a Ric-O-Sound (otherwise known as "stereo") cord in its jack to see if the separate signal comes across properly?

Worst case scenario: a winding opened up on the coil on the bobbin, and it's time for rewind or new pickup.

Well, I tried the stereo jack with a stereo cable going into a "right, left" system. No neck pickup. Bum deal. Is there an easy way to check if the pickup is bad? It's one the new style with adjustable pole pieces.
