Just wanted to say I swapped the wires as recommended and it fixed the issue and now it's sounding BEEFY. Thanks everyone!

Okay jps I've encountered new problem. When just one of the pickups is selected and the volume for that pickup is off but the volume from the other pickup is up full (and only when full on) I get a tiny quiet sound from the amp. I have no idea why.

I only swapped the red and blue wires but soldered the red and bare together as the blue and bare used to be. I don't think this could be causing it as they're both essentially going to ground.

I should clarify that the sound isn't some buzzing or something, it's the sound of my playing but very quietly.

That could be some bleeding through from somewhere, but I'm not sure where it may be from. That is not uncommon in many stereo amps (hi-fi type) but it would never be heard when used normally.

I thought it could potentially be more amp related than anything. I'll have to get back to you when I can play through a proper amp but, for now, I'm using a super old 15-watt solid state thing and it could be some channel bleeding from that. I've heard even old Marshalls that do something similar. I don't know why I didn't suspect the amp from the start.

Thanks again jps, you've been a big help and the guitar sounds monstrous now.
