My Ric 360 12 seems to be too close to the end of the fret on the high E string.... sometimes it frets out on a D chord.. Would having the nut moved slightly fix this problem?? Thanks! Chuck Dale

I would only move the nut if it seems like it's in the wrong place to begin with. Otherwise maybe try a new nut with grooves spaced differently?
On my 360/6, the high E is close to the edge as well... in my case switching to a heavier gauge string and adjusting my technique solved the issue... rarely frets out now.

I have a 1966 370-12 since Sept. 1967 with the original factory nut and I do not have that problem. You should not have that problem either.

I had that exact problem with my 360/12 when I got it. I filled the nut slot and cut a new one not quite so close to the edge. Took all of 5 minutes. That was 18 years ago and I haven't fretted out since.
