I hope this isn't too much nitpicking (okay maybe it is...), but why has the shape changed? especially the lower part, under the neck volume pot, the "hump" grew a bit. BTW the 4003 bass pics in the website are still with the previous style pickguard.

I recently replaced the pickguard on my 355JL with a plain one. It's ALMOST the same size, just a wee bigger than the original. I got it from a friend who had the '58 325, I assumed that they would be the same size...guess not.

I was contemplating the look of the pickguard on my C64S and comparing it to my recollection of the pickguard on my 1977 MG 4001, which seemed to possess a 'glassier, milkier, more opaque' quality.
Taking into account that my memory of the '77's pickguard is 18 years removed, I'd like to ask if the difference in translucence is more a difference in type of plastic used... or is it a difference in thickness?
I want to say that I remember the '77's pickguard to be just a little bit thicker than the C64S's. Of course, if the thickness spec is unchanged and it's the actual plastic that's different, was that by design/choice? or was it due to the disappearance of a particular supplier?

As I remember, the Plexiglass that RIC used for it's pickguards was purchased from the original manufacturer of Plexiglass whose since stopped making the stuff. The color of white varies a lot from batch to batch so when I buy it in white I need to check the color. I've gotten the milky stuff like back in the 70's and I've gotten pure white. The plastic I've been getting is called acrylic.

Thanx for that info!
I was honestly wondering whether or not my memory was just adding some extra 'spit and polish' to my recollection of the old pickguard out of an over-developed sense of nostalgia!

Tony, at Pickguardian, does some great work! I had him make a silver guard for my Jetglo 360/12 and a gold guard for an orange colored Reverend, he is fantastic to work with!
