Hi from Australia. I am the proud owner of a 360/12 with a broken R tailpiece. I have a collegue going to Califoria in 2 weeks. Can someone please advise of a shop in LA or San Francisco who he can visit to hand over my broken one, and get me a new one? Thanks

I'm in the same boat. The metal divider piece on the underside of the R tailpiece, where the high E goes, is broken and I have to string the E next to the B. I'd like to keep the vintage part (a '66), instead of trading for a new part. I'm wondering if it would be possible for a metal worker to braze (or some method) a repair to it?

There is a NOS 12 string R tailpiece on eBay right now.

I have TWO broken "R" 12 string tailpieces;one from my '91 620/12,& one from my '87 360/12.Do these things just self-destruct,or what?I put a trapeze tailpiece on my Fireglo 620/12,w/black vintage style knobs...it looks kinda like Mike Campbells,no worries. But now I'm not sure what to do with the Fireglo 360/12 (NS).Will a trapeze tailpiece look stupid with the rounded top edge?I love the "R" tailpiece, but I'm afraid that the new one will break, too.Do I mail the old ones to Santa Ana when I order the new ones?Or should I just order trapeze tailpieces,& make BELT BUCKLES out of the old "R" tailpieces (great merchandising opportunity,Mr.Hall...)?I'm confused,conflicted,concerned...can anyone help here?

Is that what the replacement policy is on R tailpieces (as I now have two of them)? Is it like the TRC replacement where you send in the old one and they'll sell you a new one?

Yes, you must return at least half of your "R" tailpiece in order to purchase a new one.

If you want yours repaired, take it to a repuatable chrome shop. There they can silver solder or weld the broken piece back together, rechrome it, polish it out and it's as good as new. I've had this done on various ones from the 4005 to the 12 string R tail piece,Or if you need a replacement one contact Rickenbacker Customer Service: (714) 545-5574 ask for Kenny or Richard

I'm surprised to hear you've found a place to easily repair these. This is a precision die-cast zinc part and was under the impression it took some fairly special materials and technique to work with. Good to know it can be done effectively.

I do remember this site being mentioned in the past:
