I'm new to the most elite club in the world.
I have a beautiful deluxe Ric 330 mapleglo, serial # 8143 [1997?] I bought used in mint cond.
My question is; It has double white binding along the body and within the cats eye sound hole. Also the white 2tiered pickguard has black pipeing. Are these features unique?

AFAIK, the 330's were never made with binding on the bodies. It sounds like you're describing a 360WB. Does it have triangular or dot inlays on the fretboard? As for the piping on the pickguard, I'm not sure what you're talking about.

An interesting-sounding guitar.

If it's a 360WB, it would be '80s vintage.

Could you post a link to some pics (put them on photobucket or another hosting service)?

Thanks for the reply,

The shape is the 330 style w/ the long crescent cutaways.
The same guitar as Harrisons only w/high gain pick-ups not the vintage toasters.

The piping is a black outline along the edge of the pickguard, I'm not sure if this is unique or not but w/ the black knobs and black High gain PUs it sets it off nicely.

I wrote to Rickenbacker and its funny cause they said its a 360WB too, but its not the shape of a 360 its the shape of the 330..... HELP!! "I need somebody....HELP!!!!

Whosnxt

take a look thru the pics in the gallery in the 60s. you will see the old style 360, in the mid 60s they introduced the "new style" which is the current style with the rounded top and binding only in the back. in the 80s section you will see the 360wb.

i'll make it easy for ya

http://www.rickenbacker.com/gallery_ima ... _year=1960

note the fireglo one is a 366/12 OS (old style, like george harrisons but with an R tailpiece and a converter comb)

http://www.rickenbacker.com/gallery_ima ... _year=1980

this one is a 360wb

as for the piping on the pick guard, i have never seen this on a rick before. perhaps it was added later by a previous owner.

not sure about the bound sound hole. perhaps its one of these:

To find out what year your Rickenbacker was manufactured, go to the Service tab on this website, click on Serial Number Decoder and follow the instructions on entering your serial number.

Also, to help identify the model of your guitar note the kind of fret inlays. The triangular inlays (also called sharkfins) would indicate the guitar is a 360 series model and not a 330 series.

The 330 series have dot (not triangular) fret markers on the finger board.

You could HELP us by posting some picture links.

With pictures, the riddle would be solved to everyone's satisfaction!

I can tell you that the pickguard, with its black binding, was added later.

Your guitar is a 360WB, old-shape 360 (pre 1964) with binding on front and back. It would then have a bound neck and triangular fret markers. There were some of these made until the (?) late '80s (correct me here if I'm wrong, guys!) and these typically have hi-gain pickups. I own one of these myself, an '82.

Beyond, that, there's little to be said without a photo link.

My '67 360-12 O.S. has the shape of a 330, with binding on both sides. It has original toaster pickups and the R tailpiece. The triangular position markers are made of a sparkle type material. The triangles span the entire width of the fretboard, from neck binding to neck binding. The slash sound hole is not bound. The neck heel is rounded, not squared off.
