Nope - Just .010's and .012's. Full scale guitars are set up for .010's, while the 3/4 scale necks are set up for .012's. You could use .011's, just try to keep them low tension on a full scale neck.

I used 11s (D'Addarios, at standard pitch) on my 360 for years with no problems - I preferred the sound with a wound third as well.

It shouldn't be an issue since as far as I know the necks are exactly the same as the ones on the 12-string guitars, which have almost double the tension on them even with some of the strings being lighter gauges.

Hey -- glad to see someone else who uses 11's with a wound 3rd! Much better than 10's. More consistent top to bottom, and more mass means more natural sustain.

Yes, exactly :-).

I do like many other guitars (Fenders, Gibson, PRS etc) with a plain 3rd, and there are some things you can do on it that are quite hard or impossible on a wound one, but on the Rick the plain 3rd in a set of 11s sounded too loud and clangy. The wound one seems much better balanced both volume and tone-wise, and since I rarely do extreme bends on a Rick (although I do play lead on them too), it isn't really a limitation.

I use Dean Markley 11 to 52 gauge strings on all my electrics, including my 4 ricks. Lately I have been trying out their 11 to 52 gauge 'Blue Steel' cryo treated strings on my 350V63 MG, longer life and tone with a hint more top end. Sound great on my '54 reissue Les Paul Custom too!

Cheers, Kez

I prefer the D'Addario Chrome 11's. Great sustain and play like butter.

If you like D'addario chromes, you'll LOVE Gibson 11 flats - even more tone and more "butter," and on one guitar all I've changed in the last four months is the 11 on top because my perspiration corroded it, and the low E finally started thumping a bit. Everything else is still just as mellow, round, and sustaining as when I put them on. Maybe for Christmas I'll treat that guitar to a new set, just because.

Technically, I don't think Rickenbacker "makes" any strings really itself.

RIC has another stringmaker make them for RIC so RIC can put it's name on them as approved for RIC instruments.

I'm sure if I'm wrong, someone of actual authority will correct me.

You're absolutely correct. RIC strings are made by another company for them.
