Why can't I tell the difference in sound between the two inputs on a 4003? I know one is stereo and the other standard however I really can't tell a difference at all between the two. Very perplexing. Can you shed some light on this please? Thanks and I 'm sorry for sounding so ignorant to this matter.

First off, these are outputs from the guitar, not inputs. The Rick-o-sound output is a stereo jack that sends the sound from the two pickups separately. You need a 'Y' cable that has a stereo plug at one end, and two mono plugs at the other ends. It also helps to have two amps to plug these mono plugs into.

The owner's manual on the service tab above might prove helpful to you.

No need to apologize for not knowing something about Ricks. That's one of the main reasons for this forum. The stereo effect from the Rick-o-sound output can be a really neat setup with two amplifiers that have different effects on them.

ROS plus two amps and cabs with or without effects is a big killer sound! An effect all unto itself. I highly recommend giving it a try.

Are there any examples of RickoSound used on any famous albums?

I believe Geddy and Chris Squire made use of it in the 70s ...
