Hello,
I recently purchased a 2005 4003 bass. I plugged it in and the neck pickup is very weak and the bridge pickup is loud and distorted. This is the case regardless of what volume I am at on the amp. The bridge pickup makes my amp sound like it has blown speakers. Any advise on what the issue may be ?
Thanks

Lower the bridge pickup by turning the large screws on either side of the pickup counter clockwise. Leave your bass plugged into your amp and slowly turn the screws a little at a time, playing some notes after each tine you turn the screws. That way you'll stop turning adjusting at the point where you are not getting a distorted sound anymore. You don't want to lower the pickup too much or you'll get a weaker output.
See if you can raise the neck pickup a little ny turning the screws that are just to the sides of it clockwise. If those screws will not turn clockwise or come to the point where will not seem to turn anymore, just stop. That means the pickup is as high as it will go and forcing the screws to turn might crack the pickguard. Only use the strength of your fingers to turn those screws.
