Hi Jingle-Jangle-
This is a 2006 model, purchased from an authorized dealer in October of 2006. It does look a little sloppy under the TRC, but it is a new guitar.
Your description of the process and the fact that the TRC wouldn't be removed until the truss rods are adjusted is correct and useful. I'm just not sure how big of a deal to make of something this minor.
If I can repair the semi-hole with a wooden toothpick and some wood glue and get a new TRC, that's enough for me.

I would think that this should be a fairly easy repair to effect yourself. The wood in the stripped out hole with a new, small pilot hole drilled should hold the screw well. Let us know how you make out.

Hi Beatle-freak-
I made the repair to the original hole using a wooden toothpick and some wood glue. All I did was loosen the B string to get it out of the way, and dropped the glue/pick combo in with a tweezers. Pretty easy stuff, but thanks to all for the help. It's drying now while I wait for the new truss rod cover from Rickenbacker...
