Here's my toaster; comments welcome, but please ignore the pic of singer Sonia that some folk over at rickresource seem to find more interesting than guitars! :-)

I emailed the guy selling the fake toaster. He sent me a picture of the inside of the pickup. They're just that: fake toasters. One coil. Definitely NOT humbuckers.
Errmm.. I thought toasters WERE single coils?? This thread's got me worried, now. How do I know for sure my toaster is a Rick one?
Hmm...double whammy - the listing Catboy originally linked to called them minihumbuckers - which was wrong. That means they're real fake toasters, rather than fake fake toasters... Now I'm confused!

On whether your toaster is a real one Toastie, I'm sure you got it from a reputable RIC dealer, didn't you?
Well, it was Snakesound. I can't remember all of the description of the unit, to be fair, but I'm sure they described it as 'authentic'. I DO remember it being described as 7.4k scatterwound. I think I'll e-mail them for refresh.

You've got nothing to worry about, Toastie. Yours looks like a genuine RIC toaster pickep.

Thanx, Beatlefreak. Robbie at Snakesound confirms.

Catboy- We seem to have gotten WAAAAY off your original question, which was how to get "60's jangle". The pickups are only part of the equation. You must start with a Rick 12-string and add toasters. The compressor and AC-30 are a very good beginning. Face it - you're just gonna have to buy another guitar! ;-) -Dr.Phil

No, we didn't get WAAAAY off Catboy's topic; we merely deviated momentarily towards a relevant discussion about toasters!!! Given Catboy's input and other members' concerns, I thought the whole thread remained entirely pertinent.
